You’ve heard me wax without end about my Philips SHN-2500 active noise canceling earphones. Unfortunately back around the Saturnalia holiday the left channel went flakey. I contacted Philips and found the unit has a fairly lengthy warranty so sent it back for replacement. And today less than two weeks later I have my replacement.

Definitely worth the $30 if you ask me, but then Philips has always had very good warranty policies. I also have another Philips product that I got for the holidays, a Norelco 8151XL razor. Really easy to clean, just run water through it. And if it’s anything like my past Norelco razors, it’ll last pretty much forever.

–Update–

The second pair lasted about 5 months and then the right channel failed. I decided to open it up (One screw and it snaps open.) and located the source was the input cable from the device. Cut off about 2″ of the cord, stripped it and re-soldered it except this time I used hot glue to secure the cable. That’ll prevent it breaking off again.
