At least not according to the British Ministry of Defense.
I do like the section under New Weapons where it says:
“An electromagnetic pulse will probably become operational by 2035 able to destroy all communications systems in a selected area or be used against a “world city” such as an international business service hub.”
All I want is a small portable and focusable EMP generator. I want it because if I both see/hear another riced out vehicle with a 40kW stereo system I want to silence it permanently. And an EMP pulse would kill both the audio electronics and the vehicle electronics.
Imagine the look of bewilderment on the part of the driver. It’d be priceless. Hmm, maybe I’ll work on one using a nice step-up transformer, a capacitor bank, and then use a gap of some sort and drive it with high voltage and current. Use a ground plane reflector and I just might have my focusable EMP. Of course the cables would be a little thick and the power supply, lets just say I’d have to hook into the 480V mains and then rectify that into DC.
I’m such a geek sometimes.
