Evangeline – the New Cat January 15, 2007

Posted by truthspew in Evangeline, Sprung.

UPDATE: She’s getting very comfy. For example, we’ve already had lap time, she’s digging the windows, and just generally things are becoming normal in this house only a few hours after she got here. I so like having a cat in the house.

I find she understands all the little motions too. For example, if I pat on the couch next to me or on my lap, she runs right over and plops herself there. She also responds to finger snapping too. So whoever had her before us had her well trained.

It’s been a few weeks since I had to put down my eldest and last cat. So I decided today to go down to the Providence Animal Rescue League and adopt a cat.

This is the first time I’ve ever adopted and adult cat but she’s settling right into the house. If you go to flickr you’ll see that I’ve got all her sprung! photos in there.

She’s three years old. Which means she’s past the kitten stage, has had all her shots, is spayed, etc. So there are benefits to adopting an adult cat.

First, you know their health status. Second, all the little things like neutering, rabies vaccination, etc. are taken care of, they’ve been de-wormed, etc.

So if you’re in the market for a pet, I highly suggest an adult cat. The secret btw is seeing which cat comes up to the front of the cage to check you out.

It came between Evangeline (formerly Emerus) and a male long hair with no tail. She’s a little more reserved but that works in this house.
