Seems Colorado Governor Ritter signed into law a bill that prohibits discrimination based upon sexual orientation. In essence, and ENDA bill.

And as usual, the batshit crazy religious fundies at Focus on the Family was one of the prime opponents to the bill.

And as Opponents said the bill would have serious consequences, such as opening up Colorado public restrooms and locker rooms to all genders and transgender people, exposing children and women to sexual predators.

In that statement they automatically associate men and LGBT with being sexual predators. There are already places where men and women and children all mix and nary a report of predation has come out that.

Again, the religious fuckwits maintain that being gay is a choice when we who are gay know that it is NOT a choice. I made no conscious choice to be gay. But now they take it a step further and call me a sexual predator.

Honestly the religious aren’t happy unless they’re fighting against someone or crying discrimination against themselves.

The AFA those bastions of bigotry are at it again. This time they’re mad because McDonalds has embraced the ‘gay agenda’

McDonald’s CEO: Company will put full resources behind gay agenda

McDonald’s has signed on to a nationwide effort to promote “gay” and “lesbian” business ventures.

Dear ,

According to McDonald’s CEO Jim Skinner, McDonald’s will aggressively promote the homosexual agenda. In remarks on McDonald’s Web site concerning the company becoming a member of the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC), Skinner wrote: “Being a socially responsible organization is a fundamental part of who we are. We have an obligation to use our size and resources to make a difference in the world … and we do.”

The company gave an undisclosed amount of money to the NGLCC in return for being recognized as a major promoter of the homosexual agenda. In return, NGLCC placed Richard Ellis, vice president of communications of McDonald’s USA, on the NGLCC Board of Directors.

Ellis was quoted as saying: “I’m thrilled to join the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce team and ready to get to work. I share the NGLCC’s passion for business growth and development within the LGBT community, and I look forward to playing a role in moving these important initiatives forward.”

McDonald’s refused to comment to World Net Daily on the placement of its executive on the board of the “gay” advocacy organization but did send an e-mail confirming the corporation’s support for the agenda of the homosexual business lobby.

“McDonald’s is indeed a Corporate Partner and Organizational Ally of NGLCC. Our vice president of U.S. communications, Richard Ellis, was recently elected to its board of directors,” said Heidi M. Barker, senior director of media relations for McDonald’s. NGLCC describes itself as promoting the LGBT community first and always, including same sex marriage.

NGLCC gives credit to sponsors such as McDonald’s for its financial and other support that helps in its work. “Through the commitment of our corporate partners, the NGLCC has been able to advance the ideas and causes of the LGBT business community,” the Chamber said.

While I’m not a usual McDonald’s customer I applaud them for working with the NGLCC. I should list my business too.

But the thing that gets me is this whole ‘gay agenda’ thing. The only agenda I have is equality for all. It means no amendments to deny rights to people simply because of who they love, it means keeping your religious opinion to yourself. The churches gave us centuries of absolutist rulers and today those same churches wish to rule us all.

I say no to dogma and doctrine of the churches be they Catholic, Protestant, Jewish or Muslim. They have no place in the modern secular world. Their only function is to divide us

But I say we stand together and fight against those who would make us second class citizens. Move away from the religious into the spiritual, expel hatred from your heart. You don’t need a church, chapel, or what have you. Get closer to your fellow man. Remember, churches only serve to divide us. The have a motive to do so, because without membership they have no money and without money the clerical class doesn’t eat, they’d have to get real jobs.

Someone finally ripped and posted “For the Bible Tells Me So”

I like how they approached this. They took a holistic approach, in other words they brought the families of the gay people profiled into it. The key note among the families is the heavily religious background.

I see religion as the most corrupting and violent influence on society. This becomes more apparent when you are reminded that Dr. James Dobson of Focus on the Family isn’t a holy man, he’s a damned psychologist who should have his license yanked for the bullshit that he spews in the guise of religion.

All religion exists based on FUD which is Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt. The fear of the unknown, the uncertainty about the future, and the doubt about ones own life are exploited mercilessly by religions throughout the world. If you read the Bible, the whole bible and not just the parts that the clerics want you to read you’ll find out that Jesus Christ was truly a man, that his message wasn’t to use the book to promote your own agenda, but to love one another as you love yourself.

But that message doesn’t shine through. The Catholic Church has that Nazi Youth scumbag issuing pronouncement after pronouncement about the evils of the world. Sometimes Benny the Rat gets it right, but more often than not he gets it very wrong. The Reformation churches span the gamut with the mostly accepting Episcopalians, to the masters of FUD in the Baptist sects.

The other interesting thing that comes out of the movie is the fact that when most people, especially older people find out someone is gay the first image that pops into their head is the sexual. I remember Kevin who I’d met some time ago, he and I got into a conversation on this issue and he said that when people know they’re gay they picture you sucking dick. They even used that line in the movie Trick.

But it isn’t all about the sex. Oh the sex can be great fun, but we love, we hurt, we experience the full range of human emotion. It’s just that we are naturally attracted to the same sex.

In the case of my father, he’s fallen in with a white supremacist reformation sect. I know this because of conversations I’ve had with my father, and having read the entire Bible in the context of the time and culture it was written in, I know he’s being lead along by a pastor with an ulterior motive. That was confirmed to me when I googled something my father said to me and found it came from white supremacist tracts about religion.

My father knows I’m gay, knows that Keyron is black and I know that it bothers dear old dad. Too bad, it’s been 15 years, if he hasn’t gotten over it yet, he never will. But old dad knows that when the end comes, it’s his only son that will be there. So he’s started lightening up a bit over the past few years. Oh he’s still a bigoted asshole, but he tries to hold out the olive branch every now and then. I’m not so closed minded that I don’t see what’s going on.

It’s odd though, my father is the only one in the family that is that way. My aunts and cousins on both sides of the family are cool with my being gay. It’s just my dad.

It makes me wonder, whose child was I? I know I have elements of Dad’s personality, the stubbornness and somewhat thug mentality, that comes from him. But the gay, atheist civil rights defender, that’s from my mom. I often wonder, what would have happened had she lived and my father died. I’d probably still be gay, but I would have come out much sooner that’s for sure.

Focus On The Family Opposes ENDA October 5, 2007

Here we have Stuart Shepard of Citizenlink.org explaining why ENDA legislation is discriminatory towards churches. He’s using a classic slippery slope argument here since churches/religions are excepted out of the ENDA proposal.

My mom’s side of the family were Sheppards from the Midwest. And this guy bares an uncanny resemblance to my maternal grandfather. I hope to hell we’re not related because if we are I’m going to have to punch his lights out for being such a homophobic asshole.

Anyhow, here’s their video.

And here’s my response video which I strongly doubt they’ll ‘approve’. After all, the fact that they moderate comments tells me they’ll only post opinions that agree with them. I’m probably guilty of the same thing here when a comment is just so egregious that I have to deny it. But I think I’ve torpedoed one comment the entire time I’ve been blogging so I’m not to worried there.

Anyhow I didn’t once swear at them in this video. Surprising since I did it all unscripted. I’ll transcribe it for those who can’t understand a Rhode Island accent.

Transcription follows:

Ok this is in response to Focus on the Families video against the Employment Non Discrimination Act.

I need to say something here. It’s not a special sub-class of people. These folks don’t recognize that majority should not necessarily rule ok. You are to protect the rights of the minority.

That’s why congress was designed the way it was, unfortunately that’s been subverted over time but we can get that back if we make some basic changes.

I am sick and tired of fundamentalist Christians telling me that I don’t deserve the same rights they do. That’s what I’m getting at here. Just because I’m gay it means that I can’t have a job where I’m protected basically from being fired because I’m gay? Fortunately I live in a state where that is already the reality (ENDA) and know what, the churches haven’t had a problem.

And to be perfectly honest I would love to see Christians or at least those who call themselves Christians because your attitudes are anything but Christian. I would like to see you driven back into the woodwork where you belong. You do not belong in public, you do not belong putting your absolutely disgusting videos on YouTube.

And that’s all I’ll say to you now.
